Company Profile.

      Aviation Solutions came to be, through the joint efforts of two highly experienced and very well known persons in the airline/aviation industry in the Dominican Republic – Henry William Azar L., President and Founder of Caribe, S. A., general sales and handling agent enterprise established in 1982, and Alex Santana, whose vast knowledge and experience go back to the initiation of his aviation career in 1976 when he worked with Eastern Airlines.  Today, they have joined forces to serve the industry, not only in the Dominican Republic, but all over the Caribbean and Latin America.

Background:

     Henry W. Azar L. initiated his airline career with Pan American World Airways (the “old” PAN AM) in 1962, where he gained in aptitude and expertise.  Years later, he was appointed Commercial Director of Compañia Dominicana de Aviacion (CDA), at the time, the highest position in sales and marketing within the airline.

     In 1982 he founded his own company – Caribe, S. A. – an enterprise that pioneered the concept of general sales and general handling agent in the Dominican Republic.  Some of his client airlines included Air Florida, (the “old”) PAN AM, Air Canada, LTU, and a very large number of Canadian, North American and European charter airlines; at present,  Caribe, S. A. is General Sales Agent for ACES – Aerolineas Centrales de Colombia, Aeromexico, Dutch Caribbean, Mexicana, United Airlines and US Airways.

     Alex Santana (Marketing BA & Civil Attorney) was introduced to the aviation business in 1975, when he was hired by Eastern Airlines as reservations agent, and soon prospered within the airline to the position of Sales and Marketing Manager for the Dominican Republic.  In 1988 he was recruited by Continental Airlines as Station Manager Airport Services in Puerto Plata, and a year later became General Manager with the responsibility for sales, marketing and airport operations and services for the Dominican Republic.  In 1994 he held the position of Regional Caribbean Director for Continental Airlines when he was approached by Aeropuertos Dominicanos (AERODOM) to become their CEO with the responsibility of privatization of the four mayor airports in the Dominican Republic.

      Mr. Santana was elected more than once to serve as President of the Airline Association, served as Chairman of IATA/BSP Dominican Republic for 7 years, and before his appointment with AERODOM, was special delegate of the Dominican Government to supervise the airport pre-privatization process as member of the Airline Association.
